Dr. Tim Handy, our Vice President for AI, is a multidisciplinary expert with over a decade of experience in computational methods, uniquely combining the fields of physics, computer science, and mathematics. Holding a B.S. in Engineering Physics – Mechanical Systems from the University of Central Oklahoma and a Ph.D. in Computational Science from Florida State University, Dr. Handy has carved out an impactful career in both academia and the private sector.

As a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Michigan, he dove deep into the computational challenges of modeling nuclear fusion—a pursuit that required tackling complex mathematical problems and developing innovative algorithms. This experience laid a solid foundation for Dr. Handy, equipping him with the problem-solving acumen necessary to address the multifaceted challenges encountered in the field of computer vision.

At Maxar Technologies, Dr. Handy served as Technical Lead, focusing on high-performance computing and object detection. His work revolutionized the speed at which national security agencies could process space-based imagery. Subsequently, at Orbital Effects, he led initiatives to automate and accelerate the processing of satellite imagery, pushing the boundaries of object detection capabilities. It was at Orbital Effects where he was instrumental in turning advanced computational theories into tangible, real-world products that delivered long-lasting value to customers.

Today, at Visto360, Dr. Handy is the driving force behind our innovations in computer vision, an area he considers the frontier for game-changing applications of AI. His contributions are central to our commitment to technological excellence, as he works to develop state-of-the-art AI solutions that redefine the capabilities of Augmented Reality. His multifaceted expertise in AI and computer vision isn't just a skill set; it's the cornerstone of our forward-looking strategy in technological innovation.
